I chose to write a poem because it shows creativity. It also shows that I have a clear understanding of the story. I was inspired to write a poem because everyone else was doing a collage and I wanted to do something different. It was something to challenge my brain.
Is He or Is He Not?
I don’t know who my father is
And this is where it all begins.
There is a man who treats me well
Like a daughter perhaps but no one tells
Especially my mother, and my oldest brother
They don’t feel the pain deep down under
That lies on my heart
Because I’ve been keep apart
from the man who created me
About this man
His name is Thomas Jefferson
I know him as master
He befriended my mother
Before and after
She had five children
Four boys and one girl
Could this be our father?
Is his love for us real?
He gratifies us more
Then any other slave
Instead of hammy downs and rags
We get nice clothes and books that
No slave ever had
All these things to me is a shock
Could he be my father
Is He or Is He Not?

Go ahead girl i did not know you were that creative !!!!!!
Very nice.
Wow...kiona. This is a very nice poem. What i like about is the way you use your words, its sound like you were in that persons shoes. Kudos to you!!
I really like this poem because it talks a lot about the book. Kiona started out with a question that Harriet kept asking herself. The way Kiona wrote the poem is great. It tells about the story in the poem and its nice.
Kiona, you amazed me!.This poem is well written and it REALLY shows how Harriet felt.Your poem not only made sense, but it rhymed. I dont think i could've done that. It strongly shows relevance to Wolf by the Ears.Good job,Kiona!
This was a great poem. It tells about how Harriet was feeling about Thomas Jefferson being her father. Also i liked how she express in a way like it was happening to her.
This poem is beyond awesome. I would have never been able to create a poem so in sync with the story. Its almost like you told us the whole story in lesser words. I would take reading your version of the book over the original anytime.
